John Lee Schoenhals , 77, of Quapaw, Okla., died January 2, 2022 at Global Higher Call Nursing in Quapaw, Okla. Born November 8, 1944, in Picher, Okla., John was the son of Lloyd and Lottie (Hickey) Schoenhals. He had lived in the Wyandotte and Quapaw, Okla. area most of his life. He was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Teamsters Union Local 307 in Joplin, Mo.
John married Judy Eby in May of 1963. She preceded him in death March 23, 1992. He married Ellen (Ball) Owens in May of 1994. She preceded him in death July 22, 2009. He was also preceded by his parents and a brother, Harold “Pie” Schoenhals.
John is survived by his son, Johnny Schoenhals, Jr. (wife, Cynthia) of Quapaw, Okla., granddaughter, Brandy Nelson and (husband Rick) of Quapaw, Okla. and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Nelson and Kinslee Nelson. His brother, Lloyd Wayne Schoenhals ( wife Donna) of Miami, Okla. and sisters, Bev Miner of Baxter Springs and Debi McCoy (husband Floyd) of Quapaw Okla. also survive.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, at Ottawa Indian Cemetery, southeast of Miami, Okla. The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from Noon until 1:30 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla.
