Leta C. Webster

Leta C. Webster, 91, of Parsons, and formerly of Altamont, died at 9:20 a.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Woodridge Estates in Parsons.

Born March 7, 1930, in Altamont, Leta was the daughter of Fred W. and Edna L. (Landreth) Palmer in Altamont. They preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, Leta was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Webster, July 7, 2008; daughter, Debra Pierce, in April 1981; a grandson, Jonathan Webster; a brother, Loren Palmer; four sisters, Edith Glendenning, Beverly Williams, Loise Withrow, and Freda McMunn.

Leta grew up in rural Altamont, where she attended Caldwell Elementary and Hyatt Country schools. In 1948, Leta graduated from Labette County Community High School. After high school, Leta moved to Oswego and worked for Heflin Cleaners.

Leta and Robert E. “Bob” Webster were united in marriage September 14, 1951, in Cardin, Okla. The couple lived in Aberdeen, Michigan, before moving to New Boston, Texas. They moved back to Oswego in 1956, where Leta worked at Heflin Sudden Services until 1969. The family moved to Sherman City where they lived until 2007, when they settled in Altamont. Over the years, Leta sold Avon and worked at the garment factory in Oswego.

Leta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oswego and Sherman; the Friendship Church in Oswego and most recently the First Baptist Church in Altamont. She enjoyed writing and journaling and even had a story published. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and painting.

Leta is survived by her daughter, Linda Shield (husband Bob) of Oswego; two sons Robert E. Webster, Jr. (wife, Joyce) of Oswego and Barry Webster (wife, Gloria), of rural Parsons; Eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Palmer of Santa Fe, New Mexico and sister, Ann Bradshaw of Twin Falls, Idaho

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 4, at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery in Sherman City. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Friday, until the beginning of the service.
