Opal Lorene Stanley, 90, of Baxter Springs, died March 15, 2022 at 2:30 a.m. at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch Communities. Born June 17, 1931 in Hockerville, Okla. Opal was the daughter of Gertrude (Shipman) and Marvin Williams. She lived most of her childhood around Oklahoma.
Opal and Fred W. Stanley were united in marriage June 16, 1951 in Bentonville, Ark. Sometime before their first child was born, the couple moved to Miami, Ariz. Opal was employed at one time in the Miami, Ariz. schools as a cook in the cafeteria, retiring in 1984. Opal enjoyed coming back to Oklahoma and Kansas to visit family. She lived in Arizona until around 1989 when the couple moved to Baxter Springs. She moved to Westgate Wildwood Ranch Communities the last year of her life. She was a member of Bethel Church of Baxter Springs.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband Fred; parents; brothers, Rex Williams, Gene Williams and Marvin Williams Clyde Williams and Bob Williams; sisters, Ina Bunce and Betty Johnson.
Opal is survived by her son David Stanley, of Baxter Springs and daughter Peggy Youngberg of Miami, Okla. Granddaughters and grandsons, Trisha Rooker, of Baxter Springs, Lori Oakley (Jeremy), Fairland Okla., Tim Youngberg (Laci), of Quapaw, Okla, Kaitlyn Youngberg Stillwater, Okla., Nick Stanley (Kerri) of SanTan Valley, Ariz. and Tiffany Stanley, of Mesa, Ariz.
Along with four great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Bethel Church, in Baxter Springs. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Friday at the church. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Mark Kerr will officiate the services. Pallbearers for the service are; Tim Youngberg, Jer
