Thelma Bristow, Columbus

Thelma Aleen Bristow, 104 of Columbus, died a at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Medicalodge of Columbus.

Born October 13, 1917, in Batesville, Ark., Thelma was the daughter of Mont Ivy and Mamie (Harmon) Ivy. She had lived in Columbus since 1941.

Thelma and C. Homer Bristow were united in marriage at Batesville, Ark. in 1937. He preceded her in death.

Thelma was a devout Christian and member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Columbus and was baptized in Spring River. She was very active in the church as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher.

Thelma was also active in the PTA at Park School. She was employed part time at Seven Gables Restaurant and Lakeside Motel.

Thelma loved working outside whether it was tending to her vegetable garden or mowing her lawn. She also enjoyed reading in her spare time.

In addition to her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two brothers; four sisters; her children, Homer Dale Bristow, Phyllis Frasier, Saundra Carson and Brenda Gale Bunney; and two grandsons, Jack Bristow and Jeffrey Carson.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Karen LoGrasso of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and numerous greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 18 at Calvary Baptist Church of Columbus. Pastor Jim Bowles officiated. Pallbearers were Charles Baldwin, William Bunney, Mike Bristow, Brandon Crossland, William Hayes and Tristan Shallenburger. Burial followed at Park Cemetery of Columbus.
