Claudia Sue “Susie” McPherson, 72, of Columbus died at 9:25 pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. following an illness.
Born December 2, 1949 in Columbus, Claude and Mary (Holloway) Higgins. She was a lifetime resident of Columbus.
Susie graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1967. She then earned certifications as a CNA, CMA, and later as a physical therapist. She worked at Medicalodge in Columbus for a while before being employed for several years at Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus. She retired from Calibrated Forms in Columbus.
Susie was a member of Grace Community Church, in Riverton. She enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. She enjoyed gardening and taking naps. She loved her grandchildren’s activities and happily said she was a member of the Grandma Club.

In addition to her husband, Susie is survived by two sons, Joe Allison and Jason Allison (Nicole), both of Columbus; one daughter, Melissa Hopkins (Mark), of Columbus; one brother Michael Higgins (Theresa Wilkerson) of Scammon; one former sister-in-law, Linda Springston, of Lowell, Ark. Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jeff McPherson
Susie was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, for cremation
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Pavillion at Park Cemetery, in Columbus. Pastor Wes Davis will officiate.
