Barbara J. Albert, 93 of Baxter Springs, died Friday January 7, 2022 at Wildwood Senior Living in Joplin, Mo. Born October 17, 1928 in Picher, Oklahoma, Barbara was the daughter of Earnest Ray and Genevieve (Banes) Skiles.
Barbara and George Albert were united in marriage November 29, 1973. He preceded her in death August 27, 2015. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia Shelton, son-in-law, Dean Panos and granddaughter Rebecca Taber.
Barbara and George loved to square dance and spend time in their yard gardening. They spent many vacations traveling the United States and loved to hear stories from the locals of the places they were visiting. Barbara loved to sew, craft, quilt and bake cookies for her family, neighbors and friends. In her years of quilting, she made over 200 quilts which she gifted to family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Kristina Panos,of Prairie Village; a son Brian Taber, of Baxter Springs and sister Donna Brock. Her grandchildren, Victoria Taber, of Pittsburg, Michael (Emily) Panos, of Lawrence, Joel (Erin) Taber of Joplin, Mo., Jessica England (Ryan) of Mt Vernon, Mo. and Kristina Panos (Tim), of Kansas City, Mo. also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 13, at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Shane Dotson will officiate.
