Barbara Rae Kent, 91, of Galena died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Grenada, Mississippi. Born January 8, 1932, in Galena Barbara was the daughter of Ray and Mary Ellen (Moody) Wilkerson. They preceded her in death.
Having lived in Galena all her life, Barbara was a graduate of Galena High School. She was a homemaker. She worked as a seamstress in a clothing manufacturing company in Galena. She made her home on Shoal Creek where she enjoyed her flower gardens. She was a member of First Christian Church, in Galena.
Barbara and Billy Gene Kent were united in marriage October 20, 1950, at Galena. He preceded her in death September 26, 2013. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Kent and Billy Kent Jr., a daughter, Terri McCool, two grandchildren, William Kent and Raelyn Crouch; and two brothers, Jerry Wilkerson and John Wilkerson.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Katrina Mc-Mechan (Daniel), of Grenada, Mississippi; daughter -inlaw, Donna Kent, of Chino, California; one sister, Shirley Watkins, of Galena; seven grandchildren, Carrie Griggs, Klarissa Renner (Noah), Jadyn McMechan, Avery McMEchan, Joseph Long (Klarissa), Thomas Crouch and Zachary Crouch (Amber); three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023 at the First Christian Church, in Galena. Doug Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, in Galena.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, in Galena.
