Betty Marlene Handshy Engroff, 80, of Columbus, died Sunday, May 22, 2022. Born July 15, 1941 in Columbus, Betty was the daughter of Clair Victor and Ruth Nellie (Draeger) Handshy.
Betty and John Frances Engroff, were united in marriage March 18, 1968 at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death November 17, 2021. During their marriage they lived in Pheonix, Arizona for a time, settling back in Columbus in 1975, where they lived and worked until their passing.
Betty especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by four children: Sandra Louthan (husband Skip), Bill Engroff (wife Karen) and Joseph Engroff all of of Columbus and Pamela McBride (husband Wesley) of Texas; step-children David Engroff (wife Sarah) and Paula Ramazria (husband Danny); eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren with a seventh due to be born this summer. Her brothers Bob Handshy of Columbus, Bud Handshy of Pittsburg, Dr. Stanley Handshy of Texas; sisters Frieda Colbert of Baxter Springs and Becky Doherty of Missouri along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also survive.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a niece, and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus. Tom Fouts will officiate. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, in Columbus.
