Brenda Kay Sorg, 69, of Galena died at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 1, at her home following an illness. Born January 11, 1952 in Joplin, Mo., Brenda was the daughter of Clarence and Alice Elizabeth (Brewer) Wald. They preceded Brenda in death along with one sister, Angie Reasner.
A graduate of Parkwood High School, in Joplin, Mo., Brenda worked at Bagcraft, in Baxter Springs until her retirement after 31 years. She loved children and helped care for many of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the peace of sitting on a riverbank and drinking beer, her favorite beverage. She moved to Galena one year ago from Joplin, Mo. where she had lived most of her life. Brenda is survived by one son, Kevin Sorg, (Tiffany), of
Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters, Jenny Leake, of Joplin, Mo. and Linda Wilson, of Webb City, Mo. Eight grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Stevana Clark, Kasey Reasner, Preston Sorg, Peyton Sorg, Phillip Sorg, Presley Sorg, and Paisley Sorg and eight great-grandchildren aong with numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, in Joplin, Mo. Melvin Myers will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena.
