Carmen Leann Pyle, 58, of Baxter Springs, died Friday, August 13, 2021 of complications from a sudden illness at Freeman Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. Born March 20, 1963 in Joplin, Mo., Carmen was the daughter of Charles William Pyle and Carolyn Gallagher (Pyle) Pendleton.
After graduating from Baxter Springs High School with the class of 1981, Carmen worked in many different places including Cottrell’s 66 Express and Picher Express to name a couple of her favorites. She was presently working at Subway in Baxter Springs at the time of her passing. Carmen was famously referred to as crazy granny.
Carmen was survived by her mother and step-father, Carolyn and Mike Pendleton of Baxter Springs; daughter, Ashley Wendt (husband Russ) of Baxter Springs; brother, Clarke Pyle (wife Margie) of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Brooklynn Coach, Brandon Coach, and Christopher Hawes.
Carmen was preceded in death by her father, Charles William Pyle; sister, Cathy Rose Pyle; grandparents, Hazel and Clarke Gallagher.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 20, at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Carmen has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
