Carter R Draeger, 85, of Columbus, died at 12:20 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Quaker Hill Manor, Lowell following an illness. Born March 18, 1936 on his family farm, in rural Columbus, Carter was the son of Paul and Faye (Hanks) Draeger. Carter was a lifetime resident here. He went to elementary school at the Jenness one room school. He graduated from Cherokee County Community High School with the class of 1953.
Carter served in the United States Army Reserves. Carter had worked at Spencer Chemical Company in Riverton. He later worked as a meter reader for Empire District Electric Company from 1969 until1995. He was a member of Sherwin Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Carter and Sandra R Bell were united in marriage November 3, 1961 in Kansas City. She survives
In addition to his wife, Carter is survived by a son, Roger Draeger (Elisama), of Crestline; daughter, Paula Murphy (Kenny), of Joplin, Mo.; his brother, Rick Draeger (Janet), of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday December 23, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Columbus.
Cremation has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, of Columbus.
