Catherine Taylor, 88, Arma

Catherine Taylor, 88, formerly of Pittsburg, died July 16, 2022, at the Arma Care Center in Arma, of an illness. Born May 9, 1934 in Mound City, Catherine was the daughter of James E. and Margaret M. Gorman Higgins. She attended Mound City Schools and graduated from Mound City High School. She had been a resident of Pittsburg since 1962, moving from Fort Scott.

Catherine and William L. Taylor were united in marriage October 20, 1960, in Mound City. He survives at the home in Pittsburg.

Catherine worked at Pittsburg State University as a clerk. She also worked with the University Police Department and in Parking services for 26 years retiring in May of 1991.

A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Catherine was also a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Civil Service Club.

In addition to her husband, Catherine is survived by three sisters Margaret Shepherd of Ellsworth, Elizabeth McCurley (husband Cedric) of Springfield, Mo. and Ruth Nation (husband L. D.) of Butler, Mo. and a brother Jim Higgins of Mound City.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Shirley Corbin, Mary Ann Galloway and Rose Hutchinson and one brother Pete Higgins.

Celebration of Life and burial will be at a later date at the Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, MO.
