Daniel Brewster, Baxter Springs

Daniel Lynn Brewster, 75, of Baxter Springs, died May 26, 2022, at Freeman West in Joplin Mo. Born May 15, 1947 in Joplin, Mo., Dan was the son of Frank and Kathryn Brewster. He grew up in Baxter Springs, with three brothers.

A graduate of Baxter Springs High , Dan received his bachelor’s degree at Pittsburg State University and a law degree from Washburn University in Topeka. First practicing law , Dan later was elected a district court judge in Labette County, where he raised his family.

Dan was married to Kay Lewis Brewster from 1969 until her death in 2016. Dan remarried in 2018 to Janice Gandy Brewster. He had many hobbies and interests including playing guitar and piano, fishing, golf and traveling.

Visiting many states in the United States Dan also ventured to England, Turkey, Egypt and Mexico, just to name a few, as well as serving as a board member for the Baxter Historical Society and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Dan is survived by his wife Janice, daughter, Robyn Henry, son-in-law Joe Henry, son Justin, brother David, as well as sister-in-laws, Judy Brewster and Betty Brewster, as well as many nieces, nephews and grands. He will be missed and remembered by many. Services will be held graveside at Baxter Springs City Cemetery, 166 West Ave, Baxter Springs, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31. A gathering is to follow at David and Judy Brewster’s home, 2380 W. Hwy 166, in Baxter Springs for light refreshments and fellowship.
