Daniel Huntsinger

R. Daniel “Dan” Huntsinger, 73, of rural Pittsburg, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his home. Born June 18, 1949, at Carona, Dan was the son of Claude V. “Jiggs” and Mildred D. “Mildean” (Miklos) Huntsinger. He graduated from Southeast High School. Following high school, he graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Technology.

Dan and Peggy Russell were united in marriage August 15, 1970, They were later divorced. He then remarried and later divorced.

Dan worked for First Federal Savings and Loan, Bank IV, Boatmen’s and Nations Bank as a commercial lender and retired as an executive Vice President. After retirement, Dan and Bob Scifers owned BBD Systems where he did the maintenance and serviced their car washes. He was a part time cattleman and financial, mechanical and life consultant to his many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and living in the rural area of Pittsburg. He held a membership in the Cherokee American Legion.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Heather Wilson (husband, Jeff) of Columbus; two granddaughters, Shelbi and Sierra Wilson; a brother, Art Huntsinger (wife, Elaine) of Pittsburg; a niece, Rachel Howard (husband, Scott) and a great-niece, Jessica.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Huntsinger and Mildred Huntsinger-Oberbeck, a brother, Don Huntsinger and a sister, Deanna K. Phillips.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8 at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials be given to the donor’s choice. These can be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
