Frances Carol (Kinkade) Cooper, 87 of Galena, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born February 13, 1934, Frances was the daughter of Albert Lincoln Kinkade and Bessie Jane (Morrison) Kinkade. They preceded her in death. Frances was also preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1952. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.
Frances worked in the Quality Control Department of Safeway Bakery before retiring in 1996. Her passions included cooking and being the “#1 Babysitter” for Dancy Blizzard, Gage Girton and of course her grandchildren. She was a member of the Baxter Springs Apostolic Faith Church. She always had a smile and was a special lady that will be sadly missed by many. Her children admired her very much.
Frances is survived by one son, Brian Carter of Galena; two daughters, Valerie Shallenburger (Carl Capps) of Galena and Michelle Price (husband, Bob) of Joplin, Mo. Her sister, Dorothy Walton of Riverton; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 9 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. The funeral service will be held immediately following, beginning at 1 p.m. Cody Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena.
