Imogene Olds, 93, of Galena, died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday October 2, 2022 at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch, in Joplin, Mo. Born September 25, 1929 in Marlow, Okla., Imogene was the daughter of Joel Edward and Lida (Crane) Smith. Her family moved to Galena in 1960.
Imogene graduated from Bray Oklahoma High School in 1947 as valedictorian of her class. For several years she was a baker, working in her family’s bakery. She had a reputation of baking delicious pies and was a very talented cake decorator. She was a great seamstress, and also enjoyed crocheting, fishing, camping, and traveling to Las Vegas and Tunica. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
Imogene and Loman Leroy Olds were united in marriage February 27, 1948 in Long Beach, Calif. He preceded her in death February 10, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and eight siblings.
Imogene is survived by one son, Charles Olds, of Tulsa, Okla. and daughter, Loma Simpson, of Pittsburg. Seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8,at Oak Hill Cemetery, in Galena. Reverend Fred Vogel will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena.
