James Arthur Tharp, 80, Miami, Okla., died Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Freeman Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. Born February 15, 1941, in Picher, Okla., James was the son of Paul Tharp and Hazel Schrup Tharp.
James and Peggy Mitchel were united in marriage December 28, 1962 in Baxter Springs. She preceded him in death February 4, 2015.
James worked as an electrician for several different manufacturing companies. His hobbies included woodworking, different art projects and most of all fishing.
James is survived by his son, Eric Tharp (wife, Amy), of Broken Bow, Neb.; two daughters, Kelli Hankins and Catherine Bullard (husband, Dale), both of Miami, Okla.; his brother, David Tharp; two sisters, Rebecca Harris (husband, Scot) and Mary Jane Forbis; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
Memorial services are planned for Wednesday, October 13, at 2 p.m. at the Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, in Baxter Springs. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
