Jerry “Jeff” Martin, 87, Galena, died March 28, 2023. Born at home on February 25, 1936, in Galena, Jeff was the son of Dan and Mildred (Russell) Martin in Galena. He graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1954.
In January of 1958 Jeff married Linda Lorraine Barber. He graduated from Tulsa Barber College in 1964 and moved his family to Bartlesville, Okla. In 1969 they moved to Copan, Okla. He barbered for over 60 years at Crystal Barber Shop in Bartlesville, Okla. He and Linda moved back to Galena after retirement where they were active at the senior citizens’ center. Jerry was an avid golfer and often played golf at all of the courses in the area. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mildred (Russell) Martin; beloved wife, Linda L. Barber Martin; his daughter, Gertrude (Trudy) Martin and his son, Terry Martin; his sisters Doris Martin (husband John), Lois Martin Wells (husband Chuck) and Grace Ann Martin. Brothers Donnie Martin, Frank Martin, Larry Martin and brother-in-law Lonnie Crowder. Jerry is survived by his daughter Sherry Martin Hayes; his brother, Jeff Martin (wife Joyce); sister, Sheila Martin Crowder; his sister-in-law, Anita Martin; his great-uncle Jeff Martin; his grandchildren: Jerry Gardinier and his wife Emily, Natalie Ballard and her husband John, Matt Martin and his wife Dawnya, Drew Hayes, Ashley Cheyney (husband Levi), Allison Henderson (husband Jeremy) and Rachel Martin; and his great-grandchildren: Isaac, Tristan, and Jace Gardinier; Bailey Ballard; Maddie and Riley Martin; and Hadley and Hayes Henderson. Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service for Jerry Saturday, April 22 at The Baxter Springs Methodist church at 11 a.m. 1310 East Ave. Baxter Springs, KS 66713 Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
