John C. Davis, 76, of Parsons, died at 3:34 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Labette Health. Born March 7, 1946, in Parsons, John was the son of John Carl and Mildred Opel (Edwards) Davis. He grew up in the Parsons area and attended school in Altamont.
John worked at Ankortite, now Dayton Superior, for 10 years. For seven years, he was the manager for Lumberjack and then worked at Woods Lumber Yard. He retired from Wiggins Trucking in 1999 due to poor health.
A devoted Christian, for several years John was a member of the Parsons Nazarene Church. John loved the Lord as his Savior and loved learning about God. He was a loving dad and grandfather, who adored his grandchildren. His greatest joy came from spending time with them.
John and Lynda Griggs were united in marriage October 13, 1967, She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, John is survived by his son, Timothy Davis of Parsons; two granddaughters, Charity Ghering and Whitney Davis; five greatgrandchildren, Brody Ghering, Brantley Ghering, Bryley Ghering, Gavin Moore and Thea Moore. Two brothers, James R. Davis (wife, Linda) and Jerry Lee Davis (wife, Beth), all of Parsons. His sister, Carlene Johnson of Crestline, his mother-in-law – Ruth Griggs and sister-in-law Karol Froebe (husband, David) also survive.
John was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
No service has been planned. Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
