John William Paradee, 83, of Columbus, died at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at his home following an illness. Born September 22, 1938 in Galena, John was the son of Huey and Celesta (Harris) Paradee. He had lived in Columbus since 2006, moving from Chelsea, Okla. was raised in Sherwin.
John lived in California for 20 years. While in California, John worked for Dr. Pepper. He last worked as a cook at Beatrice Bordens Foods in Tulsa, Okla. He served on the Columbus City Council for a total of eight years. He was a member of the Lions Club in Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
John and Margaret Begando were united in marriage May 6, 1958 in Miami, Okla. She survives.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Michael Paradee, of Sperry, Okla.; daughter, Shelley Paradee, of Columbus; granddaughter, Katherine Paradee, of Columbus. His brother, Jim Paradee (Sue), of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two sisters, Celestia “Rea” Wright, of South Carolina and Jennie Bone (Marvin) along with nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
John was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, of Columbus for cremation. No services are planned.
