Katherine Lou (Johnson) Boccia, 66, of Potwin, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Kathy’s Life began May 28, 1955 in Joplin, Mo. She was the daughter of Wayne and Dorothy (Reis) Johnson. She graduated from Columbus Unified High School in Columbus, Kansas with the class of 1973. She married John Michael Boccia November 8, 1974 at the First Baptist Church, in Carl Junction, Mo.
Kathy was a stay at home mom until her children went to school. She was a Para at Potwin Elementary School and later a church secretary at Potwin Christian Church. Kathy loved her family especially being a mommy and a Mamow to her grandchildren. She was hospitable and looked forward to hosting folks in their home. She enjoyed Kansas State football and George Strait music.
Kathy’s loving family includes her children, Michael (Erin) Boccia of Wichita, Gina Boccia of Elbing, Nathan (Sharla) Boccia of Andover; grandchildren, Evelyn, Timothy, Julia and Nicholas Boccia, Olivia and Breck Wisdom, Sophia, Talia, and Gemma Boccia; siblings, Gary (Deonne) Johnson of Hutchinson, Lana (Jeff) Royster of Galena, and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John December 23, 2021 and an infant brother, Troy Johnson.
A joint funeral service for Kathy and husband, John will be held Saturday, January 8, at 11 a.m. at Potwin Christian Church, 123 Violet in Potwin. Interment will follow at Green Valley Cemetery, in Furley.
