Louise Lindsey, 95, of Galena, died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. following an illness. Born November 29, 1927, in Galena, Louise was the daughter of G. C. and Grace (LaTurner) McMillan. She had lived in Galena most of life after moving as a young girl from Arkansas.
Louise graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1945. She was a member of First Baptist Church, in Galena, where she had been a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was known as a gifted baker.
Louise and Kenneth Lindsey were united in marriage May 10, 1948, at Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death July 19, 2007. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by a daughter Patty Lindsey, two half-sisters, Catherine LaTurner and Helen Rhode and one brother, Bobby Eugene McMillan who died at birth.
Louise is survived by her son, John Lindsey, of Galena; daughter, Peggy Venezia, of Mahomet, Ill; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and nine greatgreat grandchildren.
Louise was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena for cremation. No services are planned.
