Madge Rosa (Shaffer) Swan, 91, of Galena, died peacefully at her home at 11:07 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021.
Born February 21, 1930, Madge3 was the daughter of Allen William Shaffer and Marie Iva (Neal) Shaffer. She was a lifetime resident of Galena and a faithful member of the Galena United Methodist Church. They preceded her in death. Madge was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 2009, her son Glenn James Swan, Jr. and eight siblings.
At church, Madge participated in the women’s ministries, helped teach the bible schools and various bible studies. She had worked as a line worker at King Louie Manufacturing in Baxter Springs until her retirement when she began caring for her grandchildren full time. She enjoyed sewing, shopping and cooking.
Madge is survived by one daughter, Lola Wade (husband, Dennis) of Galena; three grandchildren, Shane Wade (wife, Amy) of Pittsburg, Jake Swan of Galena and Natalie Abernathy of Carl Junction, M. Three greatgrandchildren, Austin Abernathy, Spencer and Allie Wade also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. December 27, in the Galena United Methodist Church. Pastor Dorcia Johnson will officiate.
