Marjorie Burlingame, Baxter Springs

Marjorie, Burlingame, 76, of Baxter Springs, also known to many as “Granny”, died March 16, 2022. She was born June 28, 1943, to Charles F and Nora E Gregory in Benton County, Mo. at their rock farm just outside Warsaw, Mo.

Marjorie recalled from her childhood, “It was hot and dry until September that year. I cried when I was born and continued until September when the rain started. My sister Lenora turned four in July. She was very smart and could embroidery. She liked to push me in an old baby buggy that had been passed down through all the babies. She played with me like a doll. She passed away on August 14, 1943.” Marjorie worked as a CNA starting in a hospital for a

Marjorie worked as a CNA starting in a hospital for a while, then mostly worked in nursing homes. She loved to shop and stop at every garage sale she saw. Her favorite pastime though was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marjorie was the youngest of 12 children of Charles and Nora. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine of her siblings Herbert Gregory, Nettie Dover, Loren Gregory, Norma Morosco, Roselma Collins, Barbara West, Mary Weaver, Ivan Gregory, and Lenora Gregory; and two grandchildren Samuel Estle and Trevor Bellard; and one husband Earl Kittle.

Marjorie is survived by two sisters, Ada Ashlock and Wanda Hagerman; her children Leonora (Joe) Morris, Phil (Melissa) Estle and Melody (Randy) Bellard; grandchildren Nate (Brittany) Morris, Paul (Lindsey) Morris, Jerrica (Terry) Magner, James Jr Bidwell (Cynthia Montero), Justin (Sheyenne) Bidwell, Matt (Kelcey) Estle, Maddie (Blake) Brumback, Mason Estle, Gregory Bellard, Michael Bellard, Sammy Bellard, Clancy Burlingame and Chase Bellard; and great grandchildren Tucker, Ava, Kaysyn, Kolton, Thomas, Grace, Kaydee, Annalyse, Finnley, Paisley, Logan and Leiah. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
