Marsha Louise Mummert, 83, of Lamar, Mo. died Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Truman Healthcare and Rehab in Lamar. Born June 2, 1939, in Pittsburg, Marsha was the daughter of Jack and Wilma (Jones) Cox. They preceded her in death.
Marsha and Edmond Frank Mummert were united in marriage December 21, 1985, at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death July 31, 2019. Marsha was also preceded in death by her parents and daughter Rebecca Greenwood.
Marsha worked as a transcriptionist in the medical record department for Kansas University Medical Center for many years. She retired in 2005.
Marsha is survived by sons, James (wife Bridgette) Greenwood of Osawatomie and Calvin (wife Linda) Mummert of Lake Jackson, Texas,; daughters, Marsha (Joe Nighswonger) of Osawatomie, Gayle (Gary) Strahan of Spring Hill. Kelly Fowler (husband Perry ) of Sheldon, Mo., Teresa Pelkey Aurora, Colo. and Belinda Zaparinuk (husband Ken) of LaQuinta, Calif. Her sister Gayle (husband Bob) Eveland; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m.Thursday, May 4 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The procession to the cemetery will leave the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Thursday. Family will receive friends at the funeral home in Pittsburg from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Memorials may be made to Rainbow Pet Hospital-Kansas City; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
