Merlyn Votaw, 82, Baxter Springs

Merlyn Votaw, 82, of Baxter Springs, died Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his Home. Born February 2, 1939 in Lawrence, Merlyn was the son of Milo Votaw and Angie Vitt Votaw. They preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle, Ivan, Leslie Votaw. Merlyn served in the United States Army and the Airforce reserves. Following his military service, he worked as a maintenance mechanic.

Merlyn and Justine Canfield were united in marriage March 9, 2005. She survives in the home. In addition to his wife, Merlyn by sons, Tim Votaw (wife, Trish), of Lawrence, Eric Votaw (wife, Nancy), of Goodyear, Ariz.; two stepsons, Gary Boothe (wife Tracy) and Ronald Boothe (wife, Amber), both of West Virginia; two daughters, Roxanne Votaw, of Minnesota and Rochelle Medina (wife, Liz), Weldon, Calif.; stepdaughter, Holly Boothe, of Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Darlene Naff, of Lawrence along with fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, , at 2 p.m. at the Baxter Springs First Assembly of God Church. Pastor Steve Bell will officiate. Visitation will be from 1p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.
