Myrna Chesnutt, 81, of Chetopa, died at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Born May 26, 1941, in Columbus, Myrna was the daughter of Horace Myrn and Laura Jean (Tullis) Chesnutt. She grew up and attended school in Chetopa. She graduated from Chetopa High School with the class of 1959.
Following high school, Myrna attended NEO at Miami, Okla. and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pittsburg State University. For many years, she worked at Joplin Supply, and then also at Joplin Stockyard and Welch Stockyards. For over 45 years, Myrna clerked the Chesnutt and Chesnutt Auctions.
Myrna had a real sweet tooth. She enjoyed shopping for clothes and jewelry. Garage sales and thrift stores were a favorite too.
Myrna is survived by her nephew, Cody Chesnutt (Sharla) of Oswego; great-niece – Kristen Chesnutt of Parsons; and great nephew, Austin Chesnutt of Oswego.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Chesnutt.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, September 21 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial followed at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett.
