Norma Jean Ewan, 85, of St. Paul, died at 5:27a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Prairie Mission Village following an illness. Born February 14, 1937, in Farlington, Norma was the daughter of Vaughn and Ella Mae (Buffalo) Russell. She graduated from Farlington High School and later earned a business degree in 1987 at Neosho Community College.
Norma worked several years as a cook at the Girard Medical Center, in Girard. She retired after working at a couple of local diners. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, baking and going to casinos. Her greatest joy was spending time with her dogs and her friends and family. Many people loved her and affectionately called her mom and Granny.
Norma and Leroy “Bud” Eugene Ewan were united in marriage December 24, 1954 at Girard. He preceded her in death December 17, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Shannon Jo Ewan, one sister, Ginger Baker and one infant brother, George Edward Ewan.
Norma is survived by four sons, Vaughn Ewan, of Erie, Harold Dean Ewan (Merlinda), of St Paul, Dusty Ewan (Michelle), Walnut and Jeffery Kris Ewan, of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Deliena Wagner and Dixie Ewan, both of Erie and Dana Chappell (Alan), of Babock Ranch, Fla.; two sisters, Rhea Vaughn, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Nancy Methvin, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19 at the home of Dusty Ewan, 24625 Hwy 47, Walnut .
Norma was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego, KS for cremation.
