Paul L. Coble

Paul L. Coble, 79, of Columbus, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Joplin, Mo. Born October 22, 1941, in Hallowell, Paul was the son of David Leroy Coble and Lula Irene Page. Paul graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School with the class of 1959. He served from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War in the United States Arm. Following his military service, Paul worked as an engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation. After retirement from the state, he worked for Calibrated Forms in Columbus.

Paul enjoyed his retirement fully, taking pleasure in simple things such as gardening, mowing his lawn, sitting on his deck watching the birds and having his family visit. He enjoyed and appreciated his kind and caring neighbors, Jim Bull and Gene Langerot.

Paul and Mary Ellen Divine were united in marriage April 8, 1972 in rural Columbus. She survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by daughters Lisa Hulvey (Jason Hulvey), of Columbus and Teresa Coble, of Topeka and son Randy Coble, of Columbus. Grandchildren: Tucker Coble, Sydney Hulvey, Asa Hulvey and Ava Hulvey all of Columbus and Samantha Carter (Christopher Carter) of Olathe and great granddaughter, Amelia Carter; his sister Pat White (Fred White) of Oswego; brothers Dave Coble (Sue Coble) of Towanda and Dale Coble (Linda Coble), of Wichita also survive.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Park Cemetery in Columbus. Pastor Allen McCamey will officiate.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus.
