Rae Ann Sramek, 88, of Oswego, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Morning Star Care Home of Neodesha. Born in Oswego, July 13, 1934, Ann was the daughter of Jay Merritt Canfield and Anna Elizabeth Strickland Canfield. They preceded her in death. Ann was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Ann Canfield; two brothers, Robert and Daniel Canfield; three sisters, Katherine Cottengim, Hazel Canfield and Geneva Zilliox.
Ann received a master’s in education from Kansas Teachers College in Pittsburg. Starting out teaching with Pittsburg U.S.D. # 250 and retiring from Frontenac U.S.D. #249. While working as a teacher she earned her realtor’s license. After retirement she earned her certified med aide certification. She was very active in the Broadway Theater in Pittsburg. She was an avid seamstress.
Ann is survived by her son, Jay Sramek, of Oswego; one nephew James Robert Canfield, of Oswego; one niece, Jenè Short, of Joplin; and several cousins.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, November 16, at the Derfelt Funeral Home of Oswego.
