Randy Gene Ewen, 61, of Columbus, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Born February 29, 1960 in Baxter Springs, Randy was the son of Edgar Russell (Buck) and Hazel Louise Ewen of Riverton.
Randy worked as a security guard at Freeman Health Systems for many years. His last job was with Class LTD as a Job Coach. This is where he found one of his true callings, being able to help those who couldn’t help themselves. Randy was always the type of man to offer a hand when needed.
Randy’s hobbies included spending time with family, barbecues, working in the yard and spending time with his lifelong friend Tommy Berry of Carterville, Mo. and his “Hank Hill” brother, Charles Clark of Columbus.
Randy was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed.
Randy is survived by Sherry (Smith) Ewen of the home, four daughters Lindsey Thurston of Columbus, Shana Ewen of Baxter Springs, Jennifer (Curtis) Davis and Heather (JD) Cobb both of Galena. Two brothers, Rocky (Theresa) Ewen of Riverton and Rusty Ewen (Beverly Gaines) of Georgetown, Texas; 11 grandchildren who he loved and cherished very much; and puppy (Wuppy) who was his sidekick till the end also survive.
A candlelight vigil will be held July 18 at the Columbus City Park at 7 p.m. Feel free to come bring a candle and celebrate the life of Randy Gene Ewen.
