Ruby Holmes, 98, OswegoRuby Irene Holmes, 98, of Oswego, died at 6:20 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Oswego Health and Rehab following an illness. Born July 26, 1923, in Wentworth, Ruby was the daughter of Emmert and Ruth Agnes (Lambeth) Duncan. She was a lifetime resident of Oswego.
Ruby was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Oswego. She was a seamstress. She had worked at Glenn Berry Garment factory in Oswego for 16 years. She later worked at Kansas Army Ammunitions Plant in Parsons.
Ruby and Wayne Leroy Holmes were united in marriage July 1, 1939. He preceded her in death August 18, 1973. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Barrett, Velma Thornburg, and Mable Duncan.
Ruby is survived by one son, Jean Paul Holmes (Connie) of Oswego; daughter, Colette Berger, (Joe) of Sun City, AZ; and grandson, Cody Wayne Holmes, of Parsons and a sister Eva Forkner of Columbus.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 2, at Oswego Cemetery in Oswego. Pastor Tom Heflin will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, of Oswego.
