Sharon Rose Gleaves, 80, of Quapaw, Okla., died at 6:27 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. following a battle with COVID.
Born May 20, 1941, in Marshall, Minn., Sharon was the daughter of Richard Ray and Rosella Evelyn (Alstad) Thompson. She had lived in Quapaw since 1978 moving there from Riverton.
Sharon was a school cook, working 12 years at Riverton High School and nine years at Baxter Springs, High School, retiring in 1996. Sharon operated Hearts Desire Home Gallery. She made dolls for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Mansfield, Mo.
Sharon was an active member of Commerce First Assembly of God, in Commerce Okla. Previously a member of the Galena Assembly of God church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a Youth leader. She was Women’s Ministry Coordinator from 1996-2012. Other ministries included Daughters of Encouragement, and Kansas District WM’s Team. She was currently leading the Covenant Bible Study at CFA. She loved to square dance with the Western Twirlers and Jasper Eagles. She was a member of the Keenager Choir.
Sharon and Allen R Gleaves were united in marriage February 11, 1975 in Springfield, Mo. He preceded her in death January 30, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Doug Thompson.
Sharon is survived by two sons, Bryon Williamson (Kelly), of Galena, and Scott Williamson, of Park City; one daughter, Cheri McCamey (Alan),of Columbus; four step-children, Randy Gleaves and Troy Gleaves, of Miami, Okla., Teresa Boutot, Gentry, Ark. and Tiffany Gleaves Texas; one sister, Shirley Hembree, Ajo, Ariz. Along with 12 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren
Ḟuneral services were held, Saturday, July 3, at Christpoint Church, in Galena, Pastor Alan McCamey officiated. Burial was in GAR Cemetery, in Miami, Okla.
