Stanley Davis, 79, Columbus

Stanley C. Davis, 79, of Columbus died June 7, 2022, in Joplin, Missouri. Born December 28, 1942 in Faulkner, Stanley was the son of Andy and Inez (Nash) Davis.

Stanley is survived by his fiancé, Velma McCloud of Columbus; sons Andy (Susan) of Columbus and son Dennis (Amy Jo) Davis and daughter, Tammy Higgins of Carl Junction, Mo.

Sisters, Dixie (Tommy) Hayward of Oswego and Kay Zwahlen of Grove, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren also survive.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law George Higgins, father-in-law Louis Richards, brother-in-law Ray Zwahlen and grandson, Jeremy Davis.

Stanley attended grade school at Faulkner. He was a graduate of Cherokee County Rural High School with the class of 1960. He married Reta Schlatter in 1960. They had three children before later divorcing. His early life consisted of construction work around the area and through Texas, B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma and later back to construction and building bridges throughout Missouri. He found love again later in life with fiancé, Velma McCloud, who survives of the home.

Stanley enjoyed auctions and rummage sales and piddling around the garage. He was a hard-working, kind, funny, loving family man who will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Chetopa.
