Wanda Faye Brannon, 97, of Riverton died Sunday evening, June 27, 2021 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility.
Born October 6, 1923 in Japton, Ark., Wanda was the daughter of Ewell and Ollie Parker.
Wanda and Oran Kelly Brannon were united in marriage October 12, 1945 in Fayetteville, Ark.. They remained residents of Northwest Arkansas until 1959 when they relocated to southeast Kansas. Wanda has been a resident of Riverton, since 1960, until she entered Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility November 1, 2020. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Christian Church (formally Southside Christian Church) serving as a children’s Sunday school teacher, Meals on Wheels cook, and church treasurer.
Wanda was a housewife after working various jobs earlier in her marriage. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including: ceramics, crocheting, sewing, canning, bowling and collecting various dolls. Wanda was the oldest of eleven children.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Kelly Brannon, her parents, Ewell and Ollie (Harriman) Parker, four brothers and four sisters.
Wanda is survived by children Vincent Brannon (Joy) and Janis Crane (Kent) both Riverton and Harley Brannon (Jana), of Pittsburg; her brother, Wendell Parker (Dorothy) and sister, Patsy Parker both of Elkins, Ark. and sisters-in-law: Thelma Parker of Huntsville, Ark. and Bessie Parker Brannon of Mountain, Ark. Grandchildren: Sam Brannon, Veronica (Brannon) Moore, Matthew Brannon and Melissa (Crane) Wesley; great grandchildren: Jacob, Jarod and Jayden Moore, Morgan Brannon, Blake and Avery Brannon, Mekaylen, Malachi, and Motia Wesley also survive.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 2, at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Cameron Woodring will officiate. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
