CGSL halfway through 2023 season

The Columbus Girls Softball League, ages 8-14, is over halfway through their 2023 season just as the t-ball age group is about to begin. A full t-ball schedule is listed below along with the remaining games for the 8-14 age groups.

Cox tosses no hitter in 3A Semi-Final shutout

Titan Senior, Kayden Cox, threw a no-hitter in the 10-0, run-rule, shut out over Santa Fe Trail (202) in the Kansas Class 3A State Semi-final game, Friday morning in Manhattan. He stuck out three batters in five innings pitched and walked one using just 52 of his allotted 105 pitches for the day.

Titans suffer heartbreaking class 3A championship loss

One hit put the Columbus Titans out in front early in the Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Championship and one hit late in the game gave their opponent, Wichita Collegiate the title, 6-4, and forced the two-time CNC and regional champions to settle for runner-up for the second season in a row.

Summer Rec returns in June

The Columbus Rec Commission is bringing back the Summer Recreation program in June and July. The program will feature swimming, bowling, games in the park, arts and crafts, trips to the library and splash pad, and other intriguing adventures.

Frontenac fourth at 3A State Golf

The Frontenac Raider Golf Team placed fourth at the Kansas Class 3A State Golf Tournament, Tuesday, in Dodge City. The CNC League and Regional Champions had all six team members make the cut for day two to earn a combined total of 666.

Junior Babe Ruth begins June 3

Columbus Junior Babe Ruth is days away from opening their season. June 3, Columbus will host Chanute for a double header beginning at 2 p.m. The 13s will then travel to Parsons to play two games starting at 6 p.m. June 7, the 15-13 team will play a double header at Frontenac.

The Columbus Titan Baseball Team came from behind to eliminate Kansas City-Bishop Ward, 9-8, in the Kansas Class 3A State Quarterfinal Game, Thursday, in Manhattan.

Final Junior Golf Clinic Tuesday

The Junior Golf Clinic is on Tuesday, May 30, 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brush Creek Golf Course. A club tournament will be held Wednesday, May 31, beginning at 2:30 p.m. USD 493 District students ages six through 18 are eligible to participate in the free program.

The Columbus Junior Golf Program will begin today at the Brush Creek Golf Course. USD 493 Students in grades kindergarten through 12th are eligible for the free clinic and program. Clinics start today and continue tomorrow and Monday.
