Youth basketball signups starting

Registrations are now being accepted for Columbus Youth Basketball. The league is open to all area boys and girls in grades one through six. The fee is $20 for first and second graders and $25 for students in third through sixth grade. There is no charge for foster children.

Titan Junior, Brett Hamilton, had a hand in 26 of the Titans 30 points in their Kansas Class 3A, District 1 win over Caney Valley, 30-8, Friday’s at Titan Stadium. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Riverton Lady Rams punch ticket for State volleyball tourname

The Riverton Lady Rams punched their ticket to the Kansas Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament with three wins in the 3A Sub-State Tournament in Baxter Springs, Saturday. Riverton defeated Caney Valley, 25-20; 25- 14, then followed with a 25-14; 25-14 defeat of the Baxter Springs Lady Lions.

Colgan take 2A Vollyball sub-state Championship

St Mary’s-Colgan needed three sets to win the Kansas Class 2A Sub-State Championship over the number one seed, Sedan, 23-25; 25-8; 25-4, Saturday in Pittsburg.

Riverton volleyball wrap-up

The Riverton Lady Rams swept through the Kansas Class 3A Sub-State Tournament to earn a trip to the 3A State Tournament after a hard fought, threeset win over Frontenac, 20- 25; 25-23; 25-18, Saturday in Baxter Springs. The 38- 3, CNC League Champions will be the fourth seed at state.

Laurance fourth, CC state bound

Columbus Titan Senior, Trey Laurance, placed fourth at the Kansas Class 3A Regional, Saturday to earn a spot in the Kansas State race. This will be Trey’s third trip to the state event after qualifying in 2019 and 2020.

Galena wins 3A, District 1 Title

The Galena Bulldogs solidified their Kansas Class 3A, District 1 Championship with a 37-16 win at Baxter Springs, Friday. The champions will host Burlington, Friday, as they begin the Kansas Class 3A post season with a Bi-District game with the District 2, fourth seed.

Playoffs begin for Columbus Soccer

The Titan Soccer Team will be on the road in Paola today, Monday, for the first round of the Kansas Class 1-4A playoffs. The winner of today’s game will face Louisburg tomorrow. The season has been a tough one for the Titans as the young team was also small in numbers.
