Southeast wins two at Oswego

Southeast Lady Lancer Volleyball took wins over Oswego, 25-23; 18-25; 25- 23, and Chetopa 25-11; 25-13, Tuesday in a Three Rivers League quadrangular at Oswego. St. Paul handed the Lady Lancers, 20-25; 19-25, their only loss of the night.

Titans take on Trojans in Friday night matchup

The 1-1 Columbus Titan Football Team travels to Girard for a CNC League matchup with the 2-0 Trojans, tonight. Girard is leading the CNC League with their undefeated record after taking big wins in the first two weeks.

Sportsman derby Saturday

Its time for the annual free fishing derby sponsored by Cherokee County Sportsmen’s Fish and Game Association. Event is open to youth ages 16 and under and is divided into four classes. Ages six and under; ages seven-nine; ages 10-12 and ages 13-16. Prizes will be awarded.

The Columbus Lady Titan Eighth Grade Team hosted an eight-team tournament, Saturday that included all seven CNC League Teams and Pittsburg. The St. Mary’s-Colgan Lady Panthers. The teams were divided into two pools.

The September 27 Junior Varsity Football game was changed from a Baxter Springs contest to a matchup with the Caney Valley Bullpups in Caney. The October 4 game was rescheduled to play Diamond, Mo. and is now and open date. The balance of the schedule will remain the same.

The Southeast Lady Lancers opened their best-of-five series with Galena, Thursday with a win in the first set. But the visiting Lady Bulldogs rebounded and won the next three sets to earn the win, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 23-25 “We lacked energy from the start,” said Head Coach Maya White.

The Columbus Titan Mini Football Team will open their 2021 season, Saturday on their home field at Titan Stadium. The Titan third and fourth grade squad will host Independence for an 11 a.m. bout. The fifth and sixth grade Titan Team will take the field at 1 p.m. when Arma comes to Columbus.
