Youth basketball at Arma Saturday

The Columbus Recreation Youth Basketball Teams are headed to Arma for games tomorrow. Two gyms at the high school campus will begin play at 9 a.m. Admission is two dollars for adults and the concession stand will offer drinks only.

CCCJL Tourney moved to Monday

The Junior High League Tournament has been moved again by organizers due to cold weather. Games originally set for Monday and Thursday were consolidated to all be played on Thursday at their designated locations. Thursday games were postponed with the some of the games rescheduled for Monday.

Cherryvale charges back for victory

The Cherryvale Lady Chargers may have come out sluggish, but they proved true to their name when they charged from behind to take a dominating, 75-49, win over their host, Lady Titans, February 11 at the CUHS Gymnasium.

Titans top Chargers on homecoming

The Columbus Titans blanked their visitors in the first quarter and made 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to take a 58-50 win over the Cherryvale Chargers on Homecoming, February 11, at the CUHS Gymnasium.

A very determined Cherryvale Charger Junior Varsity squad used pressure defense and a fastbreak offense to dominate the junior Titan team, 74-35, February 11, at the Central Junior High School Gymnasium.

Second half serge propels Chargers to win over Titans

The Titan and Charger C Teams played two halves of basketball, February 11 at the Central Junior High School Gymnasium. A big second half by the visiting Cherryvale team propelled them to a big win, 38-17, over their hosts.

CUHS Wrestling Sub-State to be livestreamed locally

The Columbus News-Report will be livestreaming the Kansas Division II, Sub-State #2 at Garnett-Anderson County and the Kansas Class 4A, Boys Sub-State #2 from Chanute, Friday and Saturday respectively.

Lady Titans take junior varsity win

The Lady Titan Junior Varsity Team overcame a third quarter onslaught of points by the Cherryvale Lady Chargers to earn a 54-52 victory, February 11, at the Columbus High School Gymnasium. Columbus doubled their visitors output in the first quarter, 16-8.

CUHS Make-up games at Baxter Springs Thursday

Columbus Unified High School Basketball games scheduled for Tuesday will be played tomorrow night (Thursday), weather permitting. Both schools were off campus due to extreme cold and elected to move the games and hope for slightly warmer temperatures.

Central Titan CCCJL tourney tomorrow

The Central Titan Junior High Basketball Team will play in the CCCJL League tournament tomorrow, weather permitting. As of press time, the Columbus 8A Team will play at Frontenac as the second seed in the tournament. They will face Galena, the third seed.
