Did you know there is a grant available to an organization planning an event that will bring more visitors to Cherokee County, who will be staying overnight in county accommodations? It seems that many are still unaware of this grant.

Reservations needed for Scottish Rite meet

All members of the Southeast Kansas Scottish Rite are asked to attend the Stated Dinner and Meeting Thursday, January 6, at the Armstrong Masonic Lodge, 3105 North Joplin Street, Pittsburg. Social Hour begins at 5:30 p.m., Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and the Meeting will start at approximately 7 p.

Just before Christmas, one Columbus convenience store was treated to a gift in the form of a new gas pump. Two employees from Broyles Petroleum in Humboldt were seen installing the new fixture at Pete’s Convenience Store located at 300 W. Maple St. on Thursday morning.

For the month of January, Kaylin Stone has been named 4-H member of the month. Stone, age 10, is a member of Prairie Rambles 4-H club where she currently holds the office of president. She also serves as treasurer on 4-H Council. Stone’s 4-H projects have included Horse, Crafts, and Photography.
