Columbus Mini Wrestlers holiday on the mats

The Columbus Wrestling Club, including many first-time wrestlers, spent their holiday on the mats in Erie at the Red Devil Wrestling Club Jamboree, Sunday. Seven wrestlers earned first place and six including Keegan Blackledge, who wrestled up a weight, came home with second place medals.

Kiwanis; 100 years of service to Baxter Springs community

One of Baxter Springs’ community service organizations celebrated 100 years in October. Kiwanis Club members in Baxter Springs can be found organizing Easter egg hunts, cleaning up local areas and providing flags on various holidays just to name a few projects.
Saying farewell to a long-term employee, American Bank President Taylor Hight presented retiring teller, Dennis Webb a photo of the bank’s staff, plaques and other gifts. Webb worked in the Baxter Springs office of the bank for 20 years. The public is invited to a special retirement reception for Webb January 14 from noon-3 p.m.

Retiring Chamber of Commerce President Sonja Duley, handed overt the gavel to incoming President Matt Case. The gavel change was held at the Chamber of Commerce final meeting of the year. The changes will be official after the announcement at the annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner, January 26.
