Columbus Public Library Hours

The Columbus Public Library will be open to the public, with a five person limit. Mondays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday 9 a.m-6 p.m. Thursdays 9 a.m.-6 a.m. Fridays 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon. Curbside service will be available upon request.

Get your scarecrows ready

The Columbus Day committee is preparing for it’s 24th scarecrow contest to be held during the Columbus Day Festival and Hot Air Balloon Regatta. Last year, attendees to the festival strolled down Maple Street to view some 14 scarecrows.

Volunteers needed for balloonists

Everyone enjoys attending the Columbus Day Festival/Hot Air Balloon Regatta, it takes many volunteers to pull off this event. Many of the 125 or so volunteers have been doing it for years. They have learned what ballooning is all about.

The Columbus Alumni Association is hosting an All-School Reunion June 30, July 1 and 2, 2023. How does the committee let the alumni know of this event? The committee has asked someone to take it upon themselves to contact their own classmates.

Baxter man presented with Quilt of Valor

At a ceremony held August 9, Jim Day was presented with a Quilt of Valor for his service in the Army. Day served from 1969-2005. His duty stations included Fort Ord, Calif., Fort Carson, Colo., Fort Riley, Fort Benning, Ga. (War college).

Sheriff has back to school tips

As parents start enrolling their children for the upcoming school year, Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves wants to remind residents to start allowing a little extra time to get to and from their daily destinations.

Lack of rain doesn’t stop museum flood

Some may think working at a museum is boring and you don’t have much to do. It could be if you weren’t around me. No dull moment when I am here. July was one of those months that entertainment came often. A new adventure all the time.
