Columbus Public Library Hours

The Columbus Public Library will be open to the public, with a five person limit. Mondays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday 9 a.m-6 p.m. Thursdays 9 a.m.-6 a.m. Fridays 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon. Curbside service will be available upon request.

The Columbus Day committee is preparing for it’s 24th scarecrow contest to be held during the Columbus Day Festival and Hot Air Balloon Regatta. Last year, attendees to the festival strolled down Maple Street to view some 14 scarecrows.

Everyone enjoys attending the Columbus Day Festival/Hot Air Balloon Regatta, it takes many volunteers to pull off this event. Many of the 125 or so volunteers have been doing it for years. They have learned what ballooning is all about.

At a ceremony held August 9, Jim Day was presented with a Quilt of Valor for his service in the Army. Day served from 1969-2005. His duty stations included Fort Ord, Calif., Fort Carson, Colo., Fort Riley, Fort Benning, Ga. (War college).
