Contestants are being sought for the upcoming pie and cake contest. P.E.O. Chapter BT of Baxter Springs is sponsoring a pie and cake contest and auction at the local Cowtown Days celebration Saturday, May 7. All area bakers are invited to participate.

Fruit trays and hygiene packets were presented to the Mercy Columbus staff by the Columbus Mercy Auxiliary in recognition of Hospital Appreciation Week. The members of the Auxiliary met April 26 at the St. Rose Parish Hall prior to delivering the items.

King is May 4-H member of month

King is May 4-H member of month

Cherokee County 4-H has announced their May member of the month. Katherine King, 11, a member of the Spring Valley Sparklers, has been chosen for the honor. This will be King’s fourth year in the 4-H program. She shows rabbits, dairy and meat goats, chickens and pigs at the Cherokee County Fair.

New art show opens at galley

A new art exhibit will be on display at Maple UnCommon Guest House and Gallery beginning Sunday, May 1. “Monolith” featuring the works of artist Justin Kidston will show during the months of May and June. There will be a meet the artist reception May 1 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at the gallery.
