Southeast loses two in new tourney

The Southeast Lady Lancers lost both games in the new, MOKAN Early Season Tournament at Columbus, Friday and Saturday. In the opening round, the Lady Lancer fell to the eventural tournament winner, Liberal, 37-59, and lost to College Heights, 32-50, in the consolation game.

Lady Titans second at MOKAN

The championship game of the first MOKAN Tournament was a determined at the free throw line, strongly in favor of the champion, Liberal Lady Bulldogs, who walked away with the win, 52-33. The new national federation free throw rule worked against the hometown, Lady Titans.

Titans of the Week

Titan Junior, Korbyn Newberry and freshman, Mason O’Banion took on wrestlers from multi-states and came away as tournament champions in their respective weight classes, Saturday, at the Bentonville West High School Wrestling Tournament. They are being recognized as Titans of the Week.

Titans place sixth in tough Bentonville Tournament

The Titan Wrestling Team took sixth place out of a field of 16 teams in the multi-state, Bentonville West High School Tournament, Saturday. Eleven Titan Wrestlers collected 114 team points to earn their sixth place finish. Republic, Mo. took first place with 24 wrestlers scoring 241.

Columbus Girls take third in Arkansas tournament

The Columbus Lady Titan Wrestlers took third at the Bentonville (Ark.) West High School multi-state tournament, Friday night. Columbus amassed 150 team points to place third out of 15 teams behind Springdale, Ark. in second place with 155 points and Rogers, Ark. in the top slot with 166 points.

Natalini first in Diamond open

Lucas Natalini earned first place at the Diamond Youth Wrestling Open, Saturday in the 10 and Under 75B Class for the Columbus Wrestling Club. Briggs Johnson, 10U 90, and Tanner Scott, 12U 75, both placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

Titan JV opens with road loss

The Columbus Titan Junior Varsity opened their season on the road, Friday, at St. Mary’s-Colgan. The Panthers took the win, 6625, over the Junior Titans. Freshman, Levi Simpson led the Titans in scoring with eight points.

Slate set for CCCJL Tourney

The full slate of games for the CCCJL Girl’s Basketball Tournament has been set after the final regular season league standings were determined. St. Mary’s-Colgan is hosting the two day tournament in Pittsburg.

Two local round ballers have met the 10,000 shot challenge at the Red Iron Activity Center as part of the Columbus Recreation Commission 10,00 Shot Club. Lucas Haviland was the first to knock down his shots followed by Evan Walters met the challenge for the second year in a row.
