Titan 8th grade snares Panthers

The Columbus Eighth Grade Football Team edged St. Mary’s-Colgan, 22-16, Tuesday, in Pittsburg.The Titans dominated the first half, scoring a touchdown in each quarter.Jayden Dohle dashed 42 yards to put the first six points on the board for Columbus then tacked on the two-point conversion.

Lady Titans win Uniontown Inv.

Following a dry spell, the Lady Titan Golf Team is back on top of the leader board with a win at the Uniontown Girls Varsity Tournament, Monday, at the Fort Scott Golf Course.

Titans third at Columbus Cross Country Meet

The Columbus Boys Cross Country Team edged Frontenac to take third place 80-90 at the Columbus Invitational Meet, Tuesday, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. Southeast was first with 52 and Pittsburg came in second with 57 team points.

Week 4 contest results

Emporia State University was handed their first loss of the season by Northwest Missouri State, 14-9, and Missouri Southern State University got their first win, 27-20, over Northeast State University in week four action of the Columbus News-Report’s Football Contest.

SHS Volleyball wins dual over Columbus

The Southeast Varsity Volleyball Team beat Columbus in five sets, Thursday night, in Cherokee, bringing their season record to 9-7. The two-team dual was a best-of-five match with the Lady Titans winning two, the first and third close sets, 25-23 and 25-22.

St. Mary’s-Colgan takes JV victory

The Columbus Titan Defense held their opponents scoreless in the second half of the junior varsity game played at Titan Stadium, Monday. But the visiting St. Mary’s-Colgan Panthers had already done their damage with 21, first half points and held on for the win, 21-6.

SE Lancers second in home CC meet

The Southeast Lancers were runners-up in their home cross country meet, Thursday, at the Weir Baptist Church Camp. Four Lancers medaled and collected 41 team points to take second behind the Labette County Team with 29 points.Three Lady Lancers medaled, and several had personal best times.

Titans take win in 3A, District 1 opener

Five plays in the third quarter resulted in three touchdowns and three extra points in the Columbus Titans, 49-16, win in Neodesha, Friday night. A 25-yard run, a blocked punt, and a 35-yard pass play secured the Titans win in just five downs of the Kansas Class 3A, District 1 opener.

CJHS Titans sweep Parsons Vikings

The Columbus Eighth Grade Titans blanked Parsons Middle School, 50-0, Thursday at Titan Stadium.Jayden Dohle scored on a 42-yard dash to the end zone to open the scoring and Paxton Schalk ran in the two-point conversion to begin the rout of the visiting Vikings.

Columbus wins mini battle at Pitt

Kasen Sallee and Wyatt Linn combined for 20 points in the 20-6, fifth/ sixth grade win in a battle with Pittsburg Woods, September 21, in Pittsburg.Sallee punched in a three-yard carry in the first for the Titans to take the early lead, 6-0.
