Youth basketball sign-ups open

Sign-ups are now open for the Columbus Youth Basketball League. Students in the USD493 school district are encouraged to get their names in for the 2024-25 season.The pre-K - Kindergarten and the first-second grade leagues will have $20 per child fee.

The Columbus Junior Varsity Titans got on the scoreboard first, but miscues and missed tackles resulted in a 20-16 win for the home team Lions, Monday, in Baxter Springs.Columbus kicked off and the Lions turned the ball over on downs in their own territory.

The Southeast Lady Lancers swept the court on Senior Night breezing to wins over Altoona, 25-8; 25-14 and St. Paul, 25-10; 25-10 in league play.The Lady Lancers are now 14-8 overall with an 8-0 league record.

Lady Titans second at Baxter Springs

The Lady Titan Golf Team closed out their 2024 regular season with a second place finish in the Baxter Springs Varsity Tournament, Tuesday. Columbus had a four-player total of 374 behind the tournament champion, St. Mary’s-Colgan who finished with a total of 355 strokes for the day.

Columbus and St. Mary’s-Colgan dominated the 2024 All-CNC Girls Golf list following their final outing, Tuesday, at Baxter Springs. Players must play in all five of the league tournaments to qualify for all-league status.

Titans cage Lions on homecoming

The Columbus Titans and the Baxter Springs Lions combined for 92 points in their Kansas Class 3A, District 1 contest, Friday, at Titan Stadium. Columbus put 41 points on the scoreboard in the second half after being tied 21-21 at the break to take the win, 6230, over their CNC League rival.

Titan Sophomore, Braun Stone, added his name to the Titan Football list of records with a single game rushing total of 186 yards, more than tripling his total for the season. He is being recognized as Titan of the Week.

Lancers win Columbus Invitational

The Southeast Boys Cross Country Team won the Columbus Invitational Meet, Tuesday, at the Brush Creek Golf Course.Three Lancers medaled in the top ten, keeping their times under 20 minutes in the 5K race.

Colgan takes second JV win in week

In a repeat of last Monday, the Junior Varsity Titans, welcomed the St. Mary’s-Colgan Panthers to Titan Stadium.Also a repeat, the Panthers went home with a victory. 40-8.

CJHS hosts junior high CC meet

The Brush Creek Golf Course was the site for a multi-level Columbus Cross Country Invitational, Tuesday. The junior high racers opened the event with grades, 6-8, competing in a two-mile race.Emerson Albright, Frontenac Eighth Grader, won the girls division in 13:22.
