Pitt State undefeated in week five contest results

The Pittsburg State Gorillas and the St. Mary’s-Colgan Panthers both remain undefeated following win in their week five match ups. Both schools took big wins, Colgan, 76-0 over Northeast-Arma and PSU, 42-7, over Northeastern State.

24-25 Football Classifications set

The Kansas State High School Activities Association has released their classifications for the 2024 and 2025 football seasons. The Columbus Titans will remain in Class 3A with an enrollment of 228 with Frontenac, 221, Girard, 208, and Baxter Springs, 195.

Titan Eighth Grade edges Lions in Baxter Springs

The Columbus Junior High School Eighth Grade Football Team escaped Baxter Springs with a 2220, come-from-behind, win, Thursday. A last second touchdown gave the Lions life and cut the Titans lead, 2022.

Football contest winners

The close games and upsets caused a complete turnaround from last weeks contest. All three of the winning entries picked Girard to win likely because of Prairie View’s win over Parsons. However the LaCygne team took a 21-0 win over the Trojans.
Winners in the Sportsmen’s Fish and Game Association Casting contest in the ages six and under group were Anastasia Hudson, first place with a cast of 85 inches from the target. Kaydence Babcock placed second casting 89 inches from the target. The fishing and casting contest was held September 23.

CUHS Volleyball sweeps Southeast

The Lady Titan volleyball Team earned a sweep at Southeast, September 21, in Cherokee. The junior varsity opened the night with a three-set win over the junior Lady Lancers, 25-10; 26-24; and 25-19.

Volleyball Senior Night Tuesday

Tuesday will be senior night for the Columbus Unified High School Volleyball Team. The squad will host Galena for the dual event beginning with a “C” Team, best two out of three, match at 5 p.m. The junior varsity will follow with a best of five match.

Lady Titans host CNC leaders

The Columbus Lady Titans took on the CNC League powerhouse volleyball squads from Riverton and Girard, Tuesday, September 19, on their home court. The hosts were unsuccessful in both matches, losing to Girard, 17-25; 20-25 and Riverton, 14-25; 22-25.

Titans travel to Frontenac tonight

The 1-3, Titan Football Team travels to Frontenac tonight to take on the 3-1, Raiders in a Kansas Class 3A District 1 contest. The Titans are coming off their first win over Galena, 12-8, after starting the season 0-3. Frontenac took down the Girard Trojans in week four to join the St.

Big Hill Lake produces Spotted Gar record

A lucky bow-angler from Parsons has officially broken a 40-year state record for spotted gar in Kansas. Michael Starr Jr. was fishing at Big Hill Reservoir in Labette County in late July when he successfully reeled in a 34.5-inch spotted gar weighing 7.98 pounds.
