The Columbus Titan Football Team will be opening their 2023 season with a midnight practice under the lights at Titan Stadium at 12 a.m., Monday. Helmets and practice jerseys for all players and the Titan faithful are welcome to attend.

Cross Country, Soccer Monday

CUHS Titan Cross Country and Soccer Teams will begin their 2023 seasons, Monday. The Cross Country Team will begin practice at 3:15 p.m. starting at the gymnasium. A parent meeting will be held following practice at 5:30 p.m. in Room 116 at the high school.

Mattox selected to WarDogs Team

Former Labette County High School and All-SEK League standout, Jake Mattox, was recently chosen as one of the few to compete with the United States Military WarDogs Baseball Team against top baseball teams in the Summer Ball Showdown in Goddard.

Area Youth Soccer begins 29th season

The Columbus Area Youth Soccer program turns 29 this season as signups for the new year get underway. Started in 1994 by Randy and Debra Froebe, the league has seen generations of kids play in Columbus.

Titan Football parent meeting set

A parent meeting is being held Thursday for all Columbus High School Football Players. Athletes are not required to attend as coaches will be reviewing team rules, expectations, etc. for the upcoming season with team parents. The meeting will be held in the high school gymnasium at 5 p.m.

Mini Titan Football sign-ups tomorrow

The Columbus Titan Youth Football League is holding their first sign up event, Wednesday, from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the storage building on the corner of East Maple and North Ohio. League officials will also be on hand at the storage facility, Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

CJHS equipment checkout schedule

The Columbus Junior High Titan Football Team will checkout equipment August 14 and 15 at the Central School Gymnasium. Checkout for eighth graders will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday and for seventh graders during the same time period, Tuesday. Practice will start August 16th after school.

Junior Golf youth adult tournament

Registration is due today for the 2023 Columbus Junior Golf/Brush Creek Golf and Grill Youth/Adult Golf Tournament. Program officials ask that would-be participants register with Dan Grundy or at the Red Iron Activity Center.

First Columbus Little League team travels to state championship

It was sixty years ago this week that the first Columbus Little League All-Star team claimed a Kansas State Championship. The Columbus boys swept the state tournament in beating Scott City before winning the championship by topping the host Olathe 4-2 in the finale.
