Auxiliary sells tickets at Columbus Day Festival

The auxiliary had a booth at Columbus Day where they will be sold chances on a $500 gift card. Chances were $5 each or three for $12. Those who purchased a chance on the gift card will have the opportunity to get a free chance on a gift basket.

Baxter Springs city wide clean up begins

The City of Baxter Springs will be having their city wide clean up October 18-22. The city will be picking up items everyday during that week. You must call Baxter Springs City Hall at 620- 856-2114 before October 20,2021 to have your address put on the list to be picked up.

First Farmers’ Market of October draws record crowds

A decent crowd gathered for last week’s farmers’ market, the first one for the month of October. Upwards of twenty-five to thirty people at a time gathered for the event, taking advantage of the unusually warm weather.

Girl Scouts plan ‘Trivia Night’ fundraiser

A trivia night fundraiser is planned by the Cherokee County Girl Scouts. Form a team and challenge another business, group of friends or coworkers. Teams may have up to six players. Entry fee is $25 per team. Teams must register by November 1. There is a limit of 10 teams.

Crestline FBC to host Victorymen concert

A Gospel music concert is planned Saturday, October 16 at Crestline First Baptist Church. The Victorymen from Oronogo, Mo., will take the stage at 6 p.m. The church is located at 657 SE Highway Alternate 69 in Crestline. A free will offering will be taken.

Enter pumpkins into Johnston Library contest

Get out your paints, fabric, glitter and any other items you would like and create a work of art on a pumpkin. A pumpkin decorating contest is being held by the Johnston Public Library in Baxter Springs.

Pig roast planned at Baxter FUMC
