West Mineral Eagles is planning a benefit dinner April 11. Members and guests are welcome. For $9 attendees will receive lunch prepared by Chef Lacy from Circle L Café. Menu will consist of an open face roast beef sandwich, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn. Lunch will begin at 1 p.m.
Jenna Daniel of Riverton High School presented her Sweets and Treats business at the Cherokee County Entrepreneurship fair. Her first place win qualified her to attend the State virtual competition.

A Riverton High School student has qualified to participate in the NetWork Kansas’ Entrepreneurship (E-) Community Partnership State Championship. Jenna’s Sweets and Treats created by Jenna Daniel qualified after winning first place in the Cherokee County Entrepreneurship Fair.

Captain Travis Griffitt, United States Air Force, has been selected for promotion to the rank of Major effective April 1. The Columbus native is a 2006 graduate of Columbus Unified High School and a 2010 graduate of Pittsburg State University.

Members of the Mike Carpino Ford team served up their best chili recipes at the VFW chili cookoff held recently. Jay Wary, Jim Biggerstaff and Dillon Roberts vied for bragging rights. Other teams participating were the VFW and Crossland Construction.
